The South African Premier Business Awards is an annual event hosted by the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) in partnership with Proudly South African and Brand South Africa. The awards recognise business excellence and honours enterprises that promote the spirit of success and innovation as well as job creation, good business ethics and quality. These awards bring together all single sectored awards, among others technology, manufacturing and women in business.

SOUTH AFRICAN PREMIER BUSINESS AWARDS

The awards are led by the Department of Trade and Industry in partnership with Proudly South African and Brand South Africa. These awards bring together all single sectored awards including, technology, manufacturing and women in business, among others

WHICH COMPANIES MAY ENTER

Companies/entrants must operate within and be located in South Africa. The Manufacturer Awards will have a sub-category that caters for companies with an annual turnover of between R20 million and R50 million. The SMME category will be open to companies with an annual turnover of between R10 million and R20 million. The rest of the categories are only eligible to businesses that have an annual turnover of R50 million and above.

Hand delivered entry forms can be downloaded from the website and hand delivered to Proudly SA, 23 Sturdee Street, Rosebank, Johannesburg, for the attention of Kutlwano Mosholi.

OPENING AND CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES

Call for Entries will open on Monday, 04 September 2017.

Hand delivered Entries will close at 15:30pm on Friday,13 October 2017 and Online Entries will close at midnight on Friday, 13 October 2017, no late entries will be accepted.

WILL MY ENTRY REQUIRE SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS

Companies/organisations have to ensure that a copy of their Tax Clearance certificate, Company Registration Certificate and B-BBEE certificate, financial statements, audited statements/ letter from the auditors are submitted with their entry form. Entrants who do not submit the Tax Clearance certificate, Company Registration certificate, B-BBEE certificate and VAT registration forms will not be considered.

HOW MANY CATEGORIES MAY A COMPANY ENTER

Companies may enter a maximum of three categories. Only one entry form for the Play your Part category must be submitted for each entrant. The Proudly South African Member Company of the Year category is only open to valid members of Proudly South African.

HOW ARE THE AWARDS ADJUDICATED

There is an independent panel of judges as well as external Auditors to adjudicate the winners per category.

Step 1: Pre-selection
Finalists will be selected by a pre-selection judging panel, which will verify numerous administration aspects of the entries, including selective site visits on behalf of the judges.

Step 2: Finalist adjudication
An experienced and distinguished panel of judges, representing various sectors and constituencies, will adjudicate the finalists based on pre-determined criteria. The criteria cover aspects such as innovation, local content, creation of job opportunities, environmental responsibilities and export opportunities, with an emphasis on quality, packaging and branding.

Winning companies will receive their awards at a prestigious banquet ceremony attended by distinguished guests representing Government and various sectors, including business, community and labour constituencies.

WHEN WILL THE WINNERS BE ANNOUNCED

Once adjudication process is complete, the awards date will be announced and communicated to invitees.

WHAT ARE THE PRIZES ON OFFER

Winners will receive the South African Premier Business Awards trophy and certificate. Along with full rights to use the SA Premier Business Awards stamp of approval for a full year.
